The Geumgang Nature Art Biennale is an international nature art exhibition hosted by the Korea Nature Artists Association - Yatoo, which has been active in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, since its establishment in 1981. My first encounter with Yatoo dates back to the early 2000s in Transylvania, Romania, where I was invited to participate in the Lăzarea Art Camp at Lăzarea Castle, where I started expanding my art connections. However, it wasn’t until 2018 that I began engaging directly with their activities by submitting my first experimental short film for their video exhibition.
This marked the beginning of my ongoing collaboration with Yatoo, particularly through their Natural Art Cube Exhibition “12x12x12+Nature,” where I contributed a series of 12x12x12 cm cubes. This project became a catalyst for a deeper exploration of geometry and nature, evolving into three distinct series presented at the Biennale in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. These works focused on the interplay of form, materiality, and environment, offering a reflection on the relationship between art and nature.

Suspended Memory - A quiet geometry of presence. A fragment of the Atlantic - saltwater sealed in a recycled glass bottle - hangs suspended in a cube of branches and waxed thread. The work is an offering, a gesture of reverence and care. It reflects on balance: between fluidity and structure, vastness and containment. A breath held between tides.

“Time” is a meticulously crafted small wooden cube with a glass bottle suspended at its centre. The bottle, filled with sand, symbolizes the passage of containment of movements, while the wax seal signifies preservation and the fleeting nature of time. This artwork invites viewers to reflect on the delicate balance between the eternal and the ephemeral.

Essence - Sandor Nagy, 2023

Essence - Sandor Nagy, 2023
Essence - A stone that has been naturally framed into a cube captures the essence of the natural world. A Hungarian born in Transylvania is sending natural elements from Scotland to Korea around the world as a sign of our unity.

Antennae - Sandor Nagy, 2022 (1, 2& 3)
Antennate - A symbolic approach to when we do not want to think outside the box, as we are committed to certain ideas, and while usually we must think outside the box, there are situations where we have to keep ourselves loyal to our own beliefs. The photos are a selection from the documentation of some of my Stone Balancing Antennae projects from all over the world, closed in the box/ cube.
Building on the conceptual foundation of these smaller cubes, I took the project to a new scale in 2024 with Resonance Chamber, a 120x120x120 cm cube created for the European Land Art Festival in Dunbar, Scotland, where I was invited as a featured artist. This larger work marked a significant expansion in both scale and spatial engagement, serving as a pivotal moment in the evolution of the project.
The journey continues with an even more ambitious endeavor: a monumental installation planned for the 2026 edition of the Geumgang Nature Art Biennale. While details of this project remain confidential until the official opening, it represents the culmination of years of exploration and development within this ever-evolving series.
