Sándor Nagy is a trilingual, transdisciplinary artist, born and raised in Transylvania (Romania), currently living, studying, and working in Paisley, Scotland (UK).
Photographer?
Sándor is having several years of experience in it and he is really finding photography a medium where he can easily wonder and wander on the borders of creation, despite his love for photography, he is not considering himself a photographer.
Painter?
Sándor worked as a fresco painter and restorer for 11 years in Hungary and over the years he painted thousands of icons and countless paintings. Working with paint is still one of his favorite mediums, however, he is not considering himself a painter.

Exhibitions?
At the beginning of his career, Sándor attended several art camps and over the years, countless international group exhibitions, he had a personal exhibition at Székely National Museum, Sepsiszentgyörgy, Transylvania, and one in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

Nowadays?
At the moment Sándor is studying, and working in the Educational Services sector, while creating art also.
In the last few years, he concentrates especially on photography and nature art.
In order to reduce his carbon footprint, and as he recognizes its various benefits, he is an active cyclist.
What?
Over the years Sándor has been involved in happenings, performance art, and nature art, especially environmental and land art. Depending on the situation, inspiration, and type of project, he paints and creates photos or experimental short films. He often returns to applying chemicals used in analog photography on photo paper using a brush, referring to it as "painting with light". During his career, he created handmade home decorations having a handmade business in Transylvania (Romania) & Hungary, he worked as a freelancer photographer in Romania, and he designed unique, handmade bags in Scotland & Malta, he is a former wedding photographer/videographer (Romania), and painted icons in Romania, Hungary & Malta, he created new frescoes, renovated old ones to make a living in Hungary for 11 years, and this is still just a part of his versatile activity during the years.
Why?
While he is using a variety of modern technologies, materials, and processes in each project his methodology is consistent. In a world that is constantly changing via incredible leaps in technology and unbelievable strains upon the environment, he is constantly questioning our connection to the land and he is even researching our loss of connection to the land. He is interested to break the boundaries between concepts and he believes that some problems simply can’t be solved by singular means.
How?
Sándor believes that energy connects us within space and time to each other, to our planet, and cosmos. He is finding peace and fulfillment in the creative process, especially when he is experimenting and combining different mediums. Performance and ritual have always played an essential role in his work also.
Cooperative?
Sándor will have to apologize if you were not able to cooperate with him in the past years, as he had career breakdowns and he implemented a personal exile from public activities, but this is totally changed now.
Drawing the conclusions from the global pandemic, from the beginning of 2022 Sándor became cooperative, and he is often involved in different projects with other artists, institutions, galleries, associations, and magazines.

Sándor was born and raised in Transilvania, but after finishing his studies he settles in Hungary (2002) where he is working as a freelance visual artist, painting and restoring frescos for 11 years, when he is relocating again, at this time to Scotland. He was a resident of Malta for around 2 years, but finally, in 2018 he decided to move back to Scotland, which at this time, definitely became his home.
Social media?
Sándor is present on most of the platforms, however, please do not try to build up a full picture of his work, based on what you may find on social media. While he can see the potential of those sites, he is not accepting those sites as any kind of standard, often considering them manipulative, and time-wasting, therefore his social media is not updated regularly. Feel free to mention Sándor on your posts if you may want to, but please ask permission in advance if you may want to tag him as he often removes tags.
Money?
